Packet Brokers: Distributed Factory for Taking Copies of Traffic

Order a service

General Description

Using a distributed packet broker fabric allows overcoming the limitations associated with receiving copies of traffic from different locations for network analysis and monitoring. Previously, this task was solved by installing physical taps (TAP) and using SPAN/RSPAN on switches, which did not allow for the required flexibility and scalability. Using a packet broker factory allows you to make copies from tens and hundreds of thousands of points, sending data to traffic analysis systems.
This approach allows for certain manipulations with traffic: working with a whole packet or a header of a given length, setting the date/time for a packet, removing duplicate data, and aggregating traffic. Using a centralized controller for management allows for working with the factory as a single entity, facilitating setup and operation.

Objectives

  • Using packet brokers to obtain an up-to-date snapshot of traffic in a data transmission network
  • Quality control of services provided to the customer’s subscribers
  • Analysis of network statistics both in real time and in historical retrospect
  • Aggregation of data in different proportions (N:1, N:M, 1:N) and removal of duplicate data
  • Ability to work with titles of different lengths

Services

1. Developing a Packet Broker Factory Architecture
2. Calculating Factory Bandwidth
3. Calculation of the number of interfaces and data storage resources
4. Integration with existing network and data analysis systems
5. Preparation of operational documentation
6. Carrying out installation works
7. Carrying out commissioning and putting into operation
8. Service support and technical assistance

Conclusion

The use of packet brokers helps the customer improve the quality of network operation by collecting information about passing traffic and transmitting this information to systems for analyzing the quality of service and security systems.
