Application control devices (ADCs) have become widespread in data centers (DCs). The application controller sits in the traffic path between firewalls and servers. ADC tools can be used to efficiently distribute traffic across multiple physical and virtual servers, providing load balancing and application control.
Thanks to monitoring the load and condition of the equipment, using special chips for decrypting TLS/SSL, the use of the ADC controller allows optimizing the use of hardware resources of the data center and eliminating the processing of encrypted traffic from servers. Modern ADC systems can perform the functions of Web Firewall, NAT, protection from DDoS attacks, and limit traffic (shaping).
