SAVRI system

Order a service

General Description

The SAVRI system was developed jointly with the technological partner OOO U-Data and is intended to improve the quality of interaction between the Customer’s networks and Internet operators.

The main function of the System is the initial formation and subsequent periodic update of BGP protocol policies/filters at external junctions of the backbone network. For this purpose, a local copy of the Internet Routing Registry (IRR) databases is created. Specialized software is used to work with it.

The system interacts with routers using CLI (Command Line Interface). They are necessary to obtain information about existing joints, diagnose their operation, update the policies/filters used on them.

This is done both automatically and at the request of users or external systems.

Automatic updates are performed with special care, with a check of the joint operation after it. If necessary, an automatic rollback of changes made to the configuration is provided.
For new connections, a one-time formation of a more complete configuration is provided based on the selected template.

It is also envisaged to generate an unloading from the System DB in the form of ready-made IRR objects about the Customer's backbone network itself for subsequent changes to the RIPE DB. Monitoring and control of the work is carried out using a web interface.

In addition to the main function, the System has developed many different auxiliary functions, for the implementation of which it will interact with other IT systems.

The SAVRI system supports integration and data exchange with Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Nokia routers.

Objectives

  • Minimization of risks caused by router configuration errors in the network of connecting operators.
  • Minimization of risks caused by BGP filter configuration errors in manual mode.  Monitoring the state of SAVRI Internet connections.
  • Maintaining compliance of the composition of incoming BGP announcements according to the RIPE-NCC regional Internet registrar database to ensure optimal connectivity in the Customer’s AS by automatically updating BGP filters on connections to the client’s AS.

Functional capabilities

1. Reduced Internet traffic costs from Upstream connections
2. Reducing RTD between Internet resources of the customer's network clients and peering partners
3. Improving the customer's network resilience
4. Improving network connectivity and network quality indicators
5. Automation of the process of generating and updating BGP filters on routers
6. Reducing manual labor in the operation of network edge routers
7. Reducing accidents by eliminating the “human factor”
8. Internet connection control SAVRI

Conclusion

The project automates operational and technical activities in the following business processes:
  • Application and update of SAVRI BGP policies at junctions with peering partners, Internet clients, upstream partners
  • Analysis of route information on external Internet connections
